This older sign in the Cannon Mountain area naively identifies the facility as a "bike path" rather than as a multi-use trail as with the later signs. The bicyclists look very 1960s -- the boy with his sailor-striped shirt and the girl in her miniskirt, neither with a helmet; low-end 10-speed bicycles with North Road handlebars, typical 20 years before the path actually was constructed. The path curves gracefully away into the background, with gentle slopes, and no other users in sight -- no crowds of pedestrians, no inline skaters.
